Bilingual Employment Training Workshop

Learning & Development

CLIENT: OC Health

ASK: OC Health engaged REdCon to design and deliver a bilingual, trauma‑informed employment training workshop for people living with HIV in Orange County. The goal was to build participants’ confidence, strengthen job‑readiness skills, and provide clear, accessible tools for navigating the workplace, all while honoring privacy, cultural responsiveness, and the lived experiences of the community.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

Needs Assessment:

REdCon collaborated with OC Health to clarify project goals, participant needs, and content priorities. Through stakeholder conversations and review of existing materials, we identified key learning areas including personal branding, job search skills, workplace rights, and self‑advocacy. We also assessed language accessibility needs to ensure full participation for both English‑ and Spanish‑speaking learners.

Curriculum Development and Facilitation:

Using adult learning theory and a trauma‑informed, HIV‑centered approach, REdCon developed a two‑day bilingual curriculum supported by a comprehensive participant workbook.

Content included scenario‑based activities, communication practice, resume and cover‑letter development, workplace rights education, and tools for navigating accommodations. We created all visual assets, worksheets, cheat sheets, and facilitator materials, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and cultural responsiveness throughout.

REdCon delivered the workshop in both English and Spanish, providing a supportive learning environment grounded in dignity, empowerment, and practical skill‑building. Participants engaged in hands‑on activities, peer discussion, and guided reflection to strengthen confidence and prepare for next steps in their employment journey.

RESULTS: The final product included a fully developed bilingual curriculum, a 40‑page participant workbook, and a complete facilitation deck. The workshop was delivered to participants in Orange County, with early feedback highlighting the clarity of materials, the supportive learning environment, and the usefulness of tools such as the Advocacy Language Bank, Accommodation Request Cheat Sheet, and Career Vision Worksheet.
